Here is where I give credit to all the great tools I use, tools which were created and improved by lots of people whom I may never know.
Blender is the open source 3D modeling and animation software that made me try 3D printing in the first place. Unlike the usual CAD packages I learned in college, I could virtually sculpt in Blender. It’s a totally different way to create 3D pieces. I gathered up a list of the most common Blender hotkeys or shortcuts here – I hate to memorize stuff, but these are a real time-saver.
Gimp is another great open source image editing software which I use every time the 2D editor in Blender is not enough for detailed work.
Linux OS has become my default OS. It is the software that introduced me to the open source movement and I haven’t looked back ever since.
